Dental insurance “waiting periods”?

Question by : Dental insurance “waiting periods”?
I am very upset. I just got a bill from my dentist in the mail claiming my wisdom teeth extraction because of “waiting period”.

I had previously contacted a dentist in town (I am new to this town) and they told me my dentist would reimburse me if I had a procedure done. I later found out they weren’t in my network, so I cancelled the appointment. But the point is they TOLD me. I don’t understand why my current dentist didn’t tell me this if it was a possibility.

I cannot afford to pay $ 1100 on top of the $ 900 I just paid for what insurance wouldn’t “cover”.

Someone please tell me what is going on.
I am still young and relatively new to my own insurance. I asked my current dentists worker lady if there would be any issues with having to wait and they told me no, that all I would have to pay is $ 900.

If you are going to be a dick please don’t respond to my question. This is why I hardly use Yahoo answers anymore.

Please!
All I asked for was a simple explanation of waiting periods. I have asked several other people in my “real life” and even they don’t realize what they are. I had checked my book for my coverage and it said it was effective after 181 days. THAT is where the confusion lies.

I don’t even know why I bothered coming to Yahoo answers. Every single time I ask any question on here I have to be on the defense because, generally, people are very rude on here. You can all get a life and continue your “top contributing” behind your little computer screens. None of you are getting top answer and when people ask for help don’t treat them like idiots. We all live and learn and make mistakes and you don’t have to talk down to anyone. I doubt you would speak like a sarcastic jerk to anyone in real life.

Your dentist is not responsible to know and inform you of coverage you carry, and whether or not it will cover the services rendered. That is YOUR job to do. Why did you not contact your insurance provider to determine if coverage was in place ? Or do you expect dentists to know the intricate details and waiting periods for each and every patient. Please !

Question by : how can i not be so self conscious?
I hate going anywhere because i always feel like people are looking at me and judging me. I really don’t like how i look. Whenever i see someone laughing, and it could be anyone, i always feel like they are laughing at me!
I have a lot of acne scars on my face i tried a bunch of different creams and they won’t go away.

My canine (the fang ones) teeth kind of stick out not a lot just a little, but my dentist said “you are pretty, but your teeth stick out so i would recommend getting braces” but my mom can’t afford braces! and my teeth never bothered me until she pointed it out!

My mom wants to take me to the beach today, but i don’t want to go because my legs are ugly and they have stretch marks on my inner thigh! i don’t have a bathing suit yet so i will have to wear shorts but you can still see my gross legs. I feel like i am the only person whose thighs jiggle!
i recently lost like 20 pounds i used to be a size 7 in pants but now i am a size 3 or 4, but i am still self conscious!

Different Kinds of Braces

01323105359_dsc01308.jpgHave you ever had to choose what kind of braces you should get?  Choosing the correct type of braces can be a challenging task.  There are many different types to choose from.  The three types of braces are metal braces, ceramic braces, and the Invisalign Brace System.  When you’re deciding among these types of braces you should keep in mind that it all depends on what kind of orthodontic work you had done.  Metal braces are the most popular kind of braces.  They are built with stainless steel which makes them extremely strong.  These braces are also more cost effective compared to the other options.  Some of the negative aspects of having metal braces are that they are ease to see and they are uncomfortable to wear at first.  Another type of braces is ceramic braces which are clear braces.  These braces are most popular to adults because of their physical appeal.  They blend in with your teeth so that it looks like you don’t have them on.  These braces are known to be more comfortable than others and they also cause minor gum annoyance.  The negative feature of having this type of braces is that they are delicate.

How To Pick Dental Braces

11323105360_bain12.jpgMany people have tooth alignment problems that need to be corrected by braces; some can be handled during childhood, and some after they become an adult.  When you are faced with this problem, it is important to pick a type of braces that best fit your need.  There are several types of braces that all do similar things but at a range of different costs and drawbacks.  Some braces are subtle in their appearance but the trade off for better looking is higher cost or more discomfort.  The important thing to remember about braces is that they will be with you for a long time; that means pictures and memories of your braces will never go away.
The cheapest type of braces are metal, and they are what everyone thinks of when they have braces in mind.  They cost about $5,000 but as with most dental procedures, dentists are usually more than happy to arrange a payment schedule to spread out the cost.  Gold braces will cost a little more, but not as much as the other types of cosmetic solutions.  The average length of time it takes for this type of braces to work is about 2 years and metal and gold will work exactly the same way.  They can be uncomfortable and unattractive, but everyone is happy they did it after the braces come off.

Making a beautiful smile, beaming all but from ear to ear, has become an admitted rite of passage for teenagers these days, as common as SATs and their first date. In fact dental health care for dental braces are now so normal that kids seldom get teased about wearing them and it’s seem as something that ‘just is’, during the teenage years. Cost of Braces Worrying You? No Dental Insurance? How You Can Get Dental Discounts

The cost of braces for teeth depends upon a lot of factors, and can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars. Most people worry about the financial costs of braces, whether it’s for themselves or their children. Here are some tips to help ease the financial burden.
Ceramic braces are similar to metal and gold braces, but they are clear so the only thing to see is the wire connecting them.  It’s still obvious you have braces but they don’t attract the eye as much, so many people think this is a great compromise.  They take just a little longer to work than metal braces and the cost a little more, but if you are looking for middle of the road; this is it.  Lingual braces are the ultimate in looks, price and discomfort for the person who decides to get them.  They go on the backside of your teeth so no one can see them at all, but they will also cut your tongue and make it difficult to talk properly.  They are hard to install and work on, so the cost of lingual braces is high.

Invisalign braces are a new type of braces that are completely clear and they can be worn at night like a retainer, or all the time like regular braces.  The drawback to Invisalign is the amount of time it takes to fix an alignment problem, and the cost is much higher than normal braces.  They can’t be adjusted like regular braces; once your teeth have moved a small amount, they need to make a whole new mold to move your teeth the next increment.  Not all dentists are trained to use Invisalign and they won’t allow untrained dentists to use their braces, so if this is your solution you need to find a dentist who is certified by Invisalign.  I have no experience with Invisalign, but I’ve heard from many other people that they are the best way to go if you have the money.
Getting tooth alignment problems fixed during childhood is usually the best choice, but sometimes the funds just aren’t there.  Wisdom teeth coming in later in life can also cause tooth alignment problems that need to be fixed with braces.  If money is the problem there are many dental plans out there like Delta Dental and Ameriplan Discount Dental to help ease the cost, but they will be expensive no matter what you do.  We all want to look our best and getting your teeth straightened can do wonders for your self confidence.  Cost, comfort, time and looks are things to consider when choosing the right braces for you, but you will be thankful you did it once your teeth are nice and straight.
